LEVANTA
A Haven Node in the Levant
A living network for land, people, and renewal
Levanta is a regional node of Haven — a growing network of place-based communities working to restore land, rebuild trust, and create new pathways for shared life.
Where Haven is the broader vision,
Levanta is its expression in the Levant.
Why LEVANTA
The Levant is one of the oldest continuously inhabited regions on Earth.
It carries:
Deep agricultural memory
Sacred relationships to land and water
Cultural richness across generations
And, today, profound fragmentation and hardship
Levanta begins from a simple premise:
What if restoration of land could become a meeting ground for people?
Not through politics.
Not through ideology.
But through shared work, shared food, and shared stewardship.
What LEVANTA Does
Levanta grows through local nodes — gardens, farms, neighborhoods, and restoration sites — connected through shared tools, practices, and relationships.
Each node contributes to:
🌿 Ecological Restoration
Soil regeneration
Water system healing
Native and adaptive polycultures
Reforestation and seed distribution
🧑🤝🧑 Community Infrastructure
Skill-sharing networks
Food production and distribution
Temporary housing and hosting
Local economic exchange
📡 Sensing + Data (Where Useful)
Soil, water, and climate monitoring
Simple dashboards for community understanding
Shared learning across sites
The Litani Basin — First Steps
One of the early areas of focus is the Litani River Basin in Lebanon.
Work underway includes:
GIS-based ecological modeling
Planting zone and polyculture design
Seed ball strategies for restoration
Early planning for sensor-based watershed monitoring
Species being explored include:
Cedar, hawthorn, carob, oak
Native shrubs and pollinator-support plants
Companion guilds adapted to microclimates across the basin
This is not theoretical.
It is the beginning of real, place-based restoration work.
HOW IT GROWS
Levanta is not built top-down.
It grows through:
Individuals restoring small plots of land
Communities organizing local efforts
Farmers, artists, and builders collaborating
Diaspora reconnecting with place
Think:
Permablitz, extended across a region — with memory and continuity.
Culture, Story, and the Future
Levanta is not only ecological — it is cultural.
Through projects like Bride of the Lamb, we are beginning to:
Tell stories of land and restoration
Visualize future landscapes through film and music
Bridge past, present, and possible futures
Restoration is not only physical.
It is also imaginative.
CONNECTED TO HAVEN
Levanta is one node within Haven.
Through this connection:
Knowledge flows between regions
Tools and systems are shared
Communities learn from one another
A broader network of restoration emerges
